Review

When I stuck my nose in the glass, blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry jumped out right away. I also got hints of anise, cocoa and white pepper. Taking a sip, it was full of juicy fruit flavors - think blackberry and boysenberry jam. It wasn't too heavy though, with crisp acidity to balance everything out.

In the middle of the taste, the fruit and spices really mixed together nicely. The texture was smooth too, thanks to soft tannins that supported the rich fruit. And it had a long-lasting finish with lingering black pepper and clove on the tongue.

You could really taste that this was made from older vines, with the classic zinfandel flavors of berry and different spices. While full of flavor, it didn't overwhelm - just a nicely balanced wine that would be great to drink on its own or with a casual meal. All in all, it delivered exactly what you hope for in a good zinfandel. 4/5 grape rating.
