Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon Review

The legendary Mr. Mondavi may be better known for the iconic high-end wines that put Napa on the map. But his side hustle Woodbridge has been quietly cranking out cheerful, budget crowd-pleasers for over 40 vintages.
Review
We pop the cork on this budget Woodbridge Cab with tempered hopes. Give it a swirl, give it a whiff - welp, the nose is a no-show. But hey - don't judge a wine by its odorless cover!
First sip... cherry bomb! A present cherry flavor hits the palate. There's a touch of sweetness too, but not overpowering. Very light (if any) tannins. But just as I'm ready to enjoy into another sip - BAM - the mean specter of bargain basement wine rears its ugly head.
The finish is a little harsh with a touch of rubbing alcohol like flavors (not that I’ve sipped that)! A reminder of the compromises required for a $5 price tag. This glass seemed to get worse, not better as I finished the glass.
Still - for the price I paid (just $4.99 on special) this isn't a bad buddy for backyard barbeques. I'll give it 3 out of 5 grapes for the jammy cherry juiciness. But next time I'll splurge a little more and hit up Costco for their superior values.
